Numerical simulation is of major concern in industrial design and manufacturing processes, completing or replacing expensive, effort-prone and lengthy prototypes and field tests. The fluid mechanics laboratory of Ecole Centrale Nantes (ECN) has been developing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solvers of highest academic level for more than 30 years.
In 2007, Erwan Jacquin and the ECN created HydrOcean with the objective to industrialize and distribute software developed in research labs, and to transform academic leadership into industrial leadership. In order to reach this goal and sustain the significant investments and efforts, HydrOcean developed a profitable services business in the marine and offshore markets.
In 2015, Bureau Veritas Group acquired HydrOcean’s services business and integrated the business and its employees to their Marine & Offshore branch, in order to address international markets and finance research at ECN through an industrial Research Chair. In 2018, HydrOcean and Tecnitas merged into a single legal entity named Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore, part of Bureau Veritas Group.
Nextflow Software spun off from the HydrOcean acquisition and was founded in 2015 by Erwan Jacquin and ECN as a privately-held Independent Software Vendor (ISV) startup, headquartered in Nantes, France.
Nextflow Software develops and sells advanced Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Nextflow Software co-owns and co-develops with ECN labs the Intellectual Property (IP) of numerous innovative solvers, and develops its own IP adding value around these solvers.
Thanks to its talented team of researchers and engineers, and based on more than 10 years of close partnership with leading academic research laboratories from Ecole Centrale Nantes (ECN) and other universities, Nextflow Software is pushing the limits of simulation with next-generation CFD software.
